In order to increase voter turnout in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections the poll panel members here carried out voter awareness drive via SVEEP initiative among shopkeepers, hoteliers, and private establishments in Kalyan East.
According to the official statement issued by the EC Thursday, under the guidance of Election Returning Officer Gopinath Thombre and Senior Election Returning Officer Dr. Swati Ghongde, the SVEEP team on Wednesday interacted with Kalyan (East) state assembly segment voters falling under Kalyan Lok Sabha Constituency, where polls are scheduled for May 20.
"Matdar Raja Jagha Ho, Loksahicha Dhaga Ho (which loosely translates to "your vote is priceless to strengthen democracy)," was the message.
Under the supervision of the Municipal Education Officer and Nodal Officer, Vijay Sarakte (Sveep), the team visited private establishments such as Mahesh Dairy, Hotel Jaymalhar, Aher Honda Bike Showroom, Rangeela Bar and Restaurant, Kashish Bar and Restaurant, and Hotel 50-50 Dhaba at Malang Road and distributed voting ballots.
