Haryana: 'HAPPY' scheme to enable poor families free travel upto 1,000 Kms

Haryana Antyodaya Parivar Parivahan Yojana (HAPPY) cards have been distributed across all districts, said state CM Nayab Singh after officially launching the statewide distribution of HAPPY cards at a state-level programme held in Karnal district.
Dignitaries from the state joined this programme through video conferencing and distributed the cards to beneficiaries in events organized in various districts.
Haryana Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister, Kanwar Pal, while distributing HAPPY cards to 20 beneficiaries in Yamunanagar, said the scheme will benefit lakhs of families in the state. "This is a significant relief for those poor families who travel to different places for their daily work. It will provide substantial convenience for their commuting needs. The government's goal is the upliftment of the last person," he said.
Pal mentioned that thee poor families will now have the facility to travel up to 1,000 kms per year for free on Haryana Roadways buses.
He urged eligible families wishing to avail of the scheme to apply for the card on the transport department's website as soon as possible.
In addition, booths have been set up at bus stands for card issuance. In Yamunanagar district, 10,000 citizens have applied online for the HAPPY card. So far, more than 3,000 citizens in the district have been issued HAPPY cards.
