Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz begins on Tuesday his first official visit to China since he was sworn into office in March.
During his five-day stay in China, Shehbaz will meet with President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang and the country’s top legislator, Zhao Leji, to discuss bilateral ties, issues of mutual interest and plans for enhancing cooperation.
A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that Beijing expected the Pakistani prime minister’s visit to advance their strategic cooperation and praised the progress made in implementing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
From June 4-8, China will also host a Brazilian ministerial delegation led by Vice President Geraldo Alckmin. The Brazilian official will arrive at the invitation of Chinese Vice President Han Zheng to co-chair the 7th meeting of the China-Brazil High-Level Coordination and Cooperation Committee.
China and Brazil will mark 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties and 20 years since the creation of the high-level cooperation committee. Beijing hopes that this year's meetings will help strengthen strategic communication and deepen practical cooperation in various fields.
Venezuela’s Foreign Minister Yvan Gil Pinto will visit China for four days from June 4-7 to meet with Foreign Minister Wang Yi and celebrate the 50th anniversary of Chinese-Venezuelan diplomatic relations. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan likewise traveled to Beijing on Monday for a three-day visit.
