Eight terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military said on Saturday.
Security forces conducted the operation in Dera Ismail Khan district of the province on reported presence of terrorists, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani military, said in a statement.
"During the conduct of the operation, after an intense fire exchange, eight terrorists were killed," the ISPR said, adding that the killed terrorists were actively involved in terrorist activities as well as killing of innocent civilians.
The statement said that a huge cache of arms, ammunition and explosives was also recovered during the operation. A clearance operation was being carried out to eliminate the presence of other terrorists in the area, it added.
