Mizoram Excise and Narcotics department officials on early Saturday seized 1.01 lakh tablets (10.100 kg) of methamphetamine at a place between Mizoram-Myanmar border Bulfekzawl and Sesih villages in Champhai district, department spokesperson Peter Zohmingthanga said.

Aizawl, Mar 23  Mizoram Excise and Narcotics department officials on early Saturday seized 1.01 lakh tablets (10.100 kg) of methamphetamine at a place between Mizoram-Myanmar border Bulfekzawl and Sesih villages in Champhai district, department spokesperson Peter Zohmingthanga said.
Zohmingthanga said that K Lala (44) and Roluahpuia (32), both residents of Bairabi town in Kolasib district, were apprehended for alleged trafficking and possession of the contraband.
They were nabbed while trying to sell drugs outside the state, he said.
The officials also detained Mahindra XUV 500 car, bearing registration number MZ01Z-4299, reportedly being used for transportation of illegal narcotics.
Officials also seized 252.650 gram of heroin at south Mizoram’s Lunglei town on Friday and arrested Jiyarul Hoque (26) of Chandmari, Tarapur, Karimganj district, Assam, now temporarily residing in Rahsiveng neighbourhood of Lunglei town.

The seized heroin was being smuggled from Myanmar and alleged trafficker was trying to sell the drugs in and around Lunglei town.
Three people arrested in connection with the drug seizures were booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, and were produced before the local court, officials added.
