Guwahati, Mar 25 Bharat Chandra Narah, a senior leader of the Assam Congress party and the MLA of Nowboicha in Assam’s Lakhimpur district, resigned on Monday from the Congress party.

Narah was hopeful that his party would nominate his wife, Ranee Narah, as its candidate for the Lakhimpur Lok Sabha seat.
Narah resigned today from the post of chairman of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee media department, one day after Congress announced Uday Shankar Hazarika as its candidate for the Lakhimpur Lok Sabha seat.
