Chandigarh, Mar 12   On a day it lost power in Haryana, the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) said Tuesday that it will take out a sankalp (resolution) rally in Hissar on Wednesday to decide its next course of action.
JJP state president Nishan Singh told the media that the party will spell out its decision and announce its next step at the rally, being called in the wake of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) suddenly breaking its alliance with his party and changing the government in the state.
In a dramatic turn of events, Nayab Singh Saini took over as the new Haryana Chief Minister on Tuesday, hours after Manohar Lal Khattar stepped down from the post, as the BJP dismantled its nearly five-year-old coalition with JJP amidst speculation of a tussle over seat-sharing for the Lok Sabha polls.
JJP leader Dushyant Chautala, who till this morning was the Deputy Chief Minister in the coalition government, expressed his gratitude to the people of the state.
He wrote on a social media site, “You have given me the opportunity to serve the state as the Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana, I consider it my good fortune and express my gratitude to every person of Haryana from the bottom of my heart.
He wrote that the support and cooperation of the public for the welfare of Haryana and the works of the people have always energised him.
He said, “With limited time and limited numbers, we have worked day and night to protect the interests of Haryana. We have got the work of every section and every sector of Haryana done in the government.”
Chautala wrote, “I will always be grateful to you for the continued support and trust you have shown in us during our times of difficulty and struggle. I assure you that following the footsteps of Jannayak Chaudhary Devi Lal ji, I will always be dedicated to protecting the interests of Haryana and the people of Haryana. Our efforts for social and economic security of the people of Haryana will continue. I express my gratitude to every Haryana resident for their cooperation and support.”
According to sources, JJP was demanding two seats in the Lok Sabha elections, but BJP refused to give even a single seat.
