Infinite possibilities of cultural history in the state – Governor

Dharamshala, March 29 Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Friday said that the cultural history of Himachal Pradesh is full of infinite possibilities and the need is only to bring it in front of the world by doing systematic research.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the two-day national seminar on Cultural History of Greater Himachal Pradesh, sponsored by the Department of History of Central University of Himachal Pradesh and Indian Council of Historical Research, New Delhi, the Governor said the religious places of Himachal Pradesh even today not only have a rich cultural heritage through many historical events but also a living history is hidden.
The governor called upon the historians present on the occasion to contemplate how the state can be enriched by rewriting its cultural history through research and continuous study, which is called a storehouse of history, folk culture, and historical relics.
The keynote speaker Dr. Bal Mukund Pandey said now the situation has changed and the history of those glorious kings and events including Maharana Pratap, Shivaji, and Ahom kings is being taught which will remind us of the glorious past of India.
Vice Chancellor of Central University Prof. Sat Prakash Bansal, said that the university is continuously getting achievements at national and international levels. The university being given the status of an autonomous university by the Government of India without applying is a very big achievement.
Well-known history scholar Prof. Sushmita Pandey and other scholars also expressed their views.

During the program, the newsletter of the history department of the university, a book based on a poem collection, and the book Nuaala written by the university researcher Bharat Singh based on the folk culture of Himachal Pradesh were also released.

On this occasion, Dean Academic of the University Prof. Pradeep Kumar, Registrar Prof. Suman Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa Superintendent of Police Shalini Agnihotri, and eminent citizens from various walks of life were also present.
