Maha: Congress leader criticises Modi

Senior Congress leader and former MP, Hussain Dalwai, on Thursday severely criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that he is continuously telling lies to public fearing defeat in the Lok Sabha elections.

In a press statement issued here, he said that now that BJP is certain of losing the Lok Sabha election, the Prime Minister and his people have started saying anything.

"Two days ago, he (Modi) claimed that the Congress party is going to take away money from your pocket and distribute it to Muslims. All this is being done for those who are intruding," he said and made it clear that the Congress always took a strict stand against infiltration and punished infiltrators.

He further said that Modi's modus operandi is to do nothing, say nothing and constantly accuse the Congress over China's invasion.

Continuing his attack further, the Congress leader said that Modi had promised to provide employment to two crore youths every year, but he does not say anything about it today.

However, due to demonetisation and the lockdown imposed because of corona pandemic, crores of people were affected with many losing their jobs and sources of income, he lamented.

Furthermore, Modi had promised to double income of farmers, but he did nothing about it, he claimed.

As Modi and his people have nothing to tell people, they are working to create disputes between Hindus and Muslims, he alleged.

Today, the issue of reservation for Muslims on the basis of religion has been raised, Dalwai said and pointed that even among Muslims there are backward castes, dalits, tribals, OBCs.

They should realise that caste does not change just because of religion, he averred and pointed that the the Muslim community's demand is that they should be given reservation not on the basis of religion but on the basis of their social and educational backwardness.

The Bombay High Court has also recommended that reservation in the field of education should be given to the Muslim community because there is social and educational backwardness, he said.

Referring to BJP's parent organisation Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)'s opposition to reservation, he said that on the contrary, the Congress created reserved seats for dalits, tribals and OBCs by making amendments to the Constitution in this regard.

This the Congress did in order to bring the backward classes into mainstream of society and to create social equality, he said.

For this, the principle of 'special opportunities' was adopted for equal opportunities, he added.

Reminding Modi that he is not a preacher of RSS but the 'Prime Minister' of the country, the Congress leader suggested him to speak and behave while keeping the dignity of the post intact.
