Maha: Southern Star AWWA hosts ‘ASMITA’ (Dakshini Kathan) in Pune

Pune, Apr 14 The Southern Star Army Wives Welfare Association hosted the ‘ASMITA’ (Dakshini Kathan), a celebration of courage and resilience, at the Rajendra Sinhji Institute, here.
ASMITA serves as a vital platform for courageous army wives to share their stories of triumph over adversity. From overcoming personal challenges to navigating complexities of life as military spouses, these women embody resilience and strength.
Their narratives not only inspire but also encourage others to confront their own obstacles with courage and determination, said a Defence release here on Sunday.
The event witnessed convergence of inspiring stories and philanthropic endeavours, from the regions of peninsular India, showcasing the resilience and contribution of women in society.
The event, graced by Ms Sonali Deshpande, chief Trustee of Persistent Foundation, and Dr Ria Deshpande, director of deAsra Foundation, on Saturday, highlighted the pivotal role of these eminent personalities in giving back to society through their social work and philanthropy.
Besides them, there were other women like educators, adventurers, caregivers and entrepreneurs, who shared their unique story of empowerment and resilience.
Among them were Ms Mubina Ansar, a teacher and Mehendi artist; Ms Rekha Khadarwadkar, who displayed unwavering resilience in the face of personal challenges; Ms Simran Roop Kaur, who climbed up to the Everest base camp; Ms Vaishali Bacchewar, who raised a specially-abled child and Ms Pooja Tejpal, a cancer survivor, who inspired many with their stories of perseverance and resilience in overcoming life's toughest hurdles.
The event also celebrated philanthropic efforts of Ms Isha Godara through Jivam Foundation, recognised efforts of Ms Laleh Busheri in breast cancer care through Prashanti Cancer Care Mission and establishment of Pune's first breast tissue Biobank as well as Shrimati Intaz and her five friends' collective empowerment through their farm produce company at Satara, Maharashtra, the release added.
