Odisha: Congress MLA Adhiraj Panigrahi quits party, likely to join BJD

Bhubaneswar, Mar 19  The Odisha Congress faced a setback on Tuesday as Adhiraj Panigrahi, MLA from the Khariar Assembly seat, resigned from the primary membership of the party.
Panigrahi submitted his resignation letter to OPCC President Sarat Pattanayak.
However, he did not provide any reasons for leaving the party, which he had served for more than two decades.
When questioned by journalists about his decision to leave the Congress, Adhiraj stated that he had no rift with the party but mentioned that "the people who elected him asked me to quit the Congress."
The incumbent Congress MLA further stated that out of respect for the sentiments of the people, he had decided to resign from the primary membership of the party.
When asked whether he would join any other political party, Adhiraj remarked, "I will go by the decision of the people of my constituency."
Sources indicate that the Congress MLA is likely to join the BJD in a couple of days.
