Railways reviews drinking water availability in stations for passengers

Palakkad, The Railways Ministry has reviewed the availability of drinking water for passengers at all stations across its network In the summer and potential heatwaves, and issued instructions to Zonal Railways to ensure adequate supplies.
A Palakkad railway division release said, "As per the Palakkad Division’s ongoing commitment, all stations strive to provide clean drinking water to passengers under established norms. The division has its own source of water at almost all stations and in other areas, railway authorities will collaborate with municipal corporations and state governments and explore alternative water supply solutions".
In the Palakkad Division, through the stalls at platforms, approved brands of bottled water are sold at affordable prices, and sufficient stock is always ensured.
In addition, these water coolers are currently provided at 63 stations, and the procurement of coolers for the remaining stations is on the way.
Officials of the Health Department of Railways are continuously monitoring the quality of the drinking water available at railway stations. The whole water management inside the division is monitored at a higher level for uninterrupted water supply which includes the close monitoring of the availability of water on its station premises, running trains, and conducting regular checks at stations to confirm water availability across all platforms.
