The rupee on Monday slipped 12 paise to close at 83.47 against the USD on rising demand for the US dollar by bankers and importers, dealers at the foreign exchange said.
In an early trade, the domestic unit fell 10 paise to 83.43 in the opening trade. During the day, it was further lost and finished at 83.47, sliding 12 paise as compared to its last close.
The rupee recorded intraday highs and lows at 83.36 and 83.49, respectively, the dealer added.
