The BSE Sensex on Tuesday slipped 285.75 points at 73609.79 in opening session as selling was seen in Telecommunications, Utilities and Auto stocks.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) declined 80.85 points at 22,361.85.
The NSE registered days high and low at 22,499.05 and 22,352.05 points respectively.
The Sensex registered intra day high and low at 74,026.80 and 73,595.09 points respectively.
The Mid cap fell 0.44 per cent and Small Cap by 0.48 per cent.
In 30 scrips, six advanced while 24 declined.
The losers were HCL Technology by 2.08 per cent to Rs 1,337.60; Powergrid by 1.86 per cent to Rs 301.20; ICICI Bank by 1.39 per cent to Rs 1,132.85 and JSW Steel by 1.35 per cent to Rs 868.05.
The gainers were Hind Unilever by 4.58 per cent to Rs 2,358.60; Nestle India Ltd by 2.46 per cent to Rs 2,517.50 and ITC by 2.34 per cent to Rs 444.75.
