Shimla: IMD issues Orange & Yellow alerts for next 4-days

India Meteorological Centre, Shimla, issued an orange and yellow alert in the state, forecasting snowfall and rain from April 26 to 29, 2024.

IMD sounded alert in a press release issued on Friday. In view of this warning, visiting upper and hilly areas couldn't be considered safe.

According to the weather forecast, there is a possibility of rain and snowfall in the district during this period.

In view of this, all citizens and tourists are informed not to stay in high-altitude areas. Do not go trekking; stay in safe places in your homes; and do not take any kind of risk.

Administrations were also cautioned to maintain high vigilance in their respective areas.

The computers have also been advised that, in case of any kind of natural disaster, they should call the telephone number of the Disaster Management Operation Centre with immediate effect.

IMD issued an orange alert on April 27 and 29 that heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and hail were likely to occur in isolated places.

It was predicted that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and hail were likely to occur in isolated parts of the state on April 26 and 28.

Outside of this state, there may be widespread rain or snowfall on the higher reaches and rain downstream for the next three days.

The minimum temperature rose by one to two degrees in the past 24 hours, as Keylong in Lahaul Spiti was the coldest at two degrees, Kalpa in Kinnaur at 5.8, tourist resort Manali at 5.2, Narkanda at 9.8, Kufri at 12.2, Dalhousie at 12.6 degrees each, Mandi at 13.6, Bilaspur at 14.2, Shimla at 14.4, Una at 14.9, Bhuntar airport at nine degrees, Jubberhati airport at 15.5, Hamirpur at 15.8, Kangra at 15.8, and Dharmshala at 18.4 degrees, respectively.
