Stalin takes pride as TN's electronic exports jumps to USD 1.7 bn in 2021 to USD 7.4 bn under DMK rule

Chennai, Apr 2 Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin on Tuesday took pride as the state's

electronic exports increased from USD 1.7 billion in 2021 to USD 7.4 billion under the ruling DMK's Dravidian Model governance.

He said being a leader in electronics and cell phone exports and accounting for 30% of the country's exports, the State will march towards its goals.

This is the statistics provided by the Union government, he added.

In a social media post, Mr Stalin said "Tamil Nadu's electronics exports have increased from

USD 1.7 billion in 2021 to USD 7.4 billion in our #DravidianModel state."

"More info…This is the statistics of the Union Government!", he said.

"Being a leader in electronics and cell phone exports and accounting for 30% of the country's exports, we will march towards our goals!", he said.

A report in this regard published in an english daily said that in the last two fiscal years, close to 40 per cent of India's smartphones were sent from just one district--Kancheepuram.

Most of these electronic goods, mostly dominated by mobile phones, were exported to the United States, followed by the United Arab Emirates and the Netherlands.

It said in recent years, among the top exporters of electronics, only Tamil Nadu's numbers have consistently risen, while the figures of other States have either dropped or become stagnant.

It said the share of the electronic goods sector in India's overall exports has more than doubled--mostly due to the rise in Tamil Nadu's contribution.
