State treasury is empty, ex-Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai alleges

Haveri, Mar 22  Former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has criticised the current Congress government for its worsening financial position compared to the previous BJP government.
He alleged that the state treasury is empty, making it difficult to address issues like drought management.
Bommai underscored the achievements of the BJP government, including significant irrigation projects and programs aimed at the upliftment of marginalised communities.
He also flayed the lack of progress under the Congress leadership, particularly in areas like drinking water provision.
Responding to criticisms from various BJP leaders, Bommai on Thursday asserted his ability to handle election campaigns independently. He also downplayed concerns raised by other party members and expressed confidence in his capabilities.
Citing the disparity in the Congress party, Bommai said that the ruling party is displaying its strengnth in public, but doesn't reflect internal cohesion.
On former CM Sadananda Gowda's statement on the purification of the party, Bommai acknowledged their concerns but reaffirmed his commitment to the party's objectives.
On KS Eshwarappa's statement about saving the party from the father and son duo, Bommai tried to de-escalate tensions within the party by attributing the former DyCM's comments to emotion rather than endorsing or rejecting them outright.
He also said that the party's national leaders are planning to engage with Eshwarappa to maintain internal unity and cohesion within the party in the face of differing opinions and grievances.
