TN LS polls : 22 Nominations filed on opening day

Chennai, Mar 20  Filing of nominations for the April 19 single phase elections for
39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu began onWednesday with the issuance of the
notification.
On day one, 22 nominations, including two women, were filed, official sources said.
All the nominations were filed by Independents.
The last date for filing of nominations is March 27 and the scrutiny will take place the
next day.
The last date of withdrawals is March 30 and the polling will be held on April 19.
The counting of votes will be taken up on June four.
Nominations for the lone Lok Sabha seat in Union Territory of Puducherry and for the
bye-election to Vilavancode Assembly seat in Tamil Nadu also commenced on Wednesday
with the issuance of notifications.
