UP : AAP announces support to SP in LS polls in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, Apr 12 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday announced unconditional support to Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP) candidates in the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh.
The announcement was made during a joint press conference after AAP MP and spokesman Sanjay Singh met SP chief Akhilesh Yadav at the party headquarters in Lucknow and had a detailed discussion on the Lok Sabha polls.
Talking to the reporters after the meeting, while expressing gratitude towards AAP for extending support, Akhilesh said, "This election is not being held under normal circumstances. The eyes of the country and the entire world are on this election."
He said, "When I went to participate in the rally held in Delhi in support of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, I had said that India is being defamed in the world. It is being discussed that the elected people, especially the head of the state, are being treated in this manner. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is interfering in the institutions, where people should get justice."
The SP Chief said that such things have been witnessed during the elections of the village head. "But such behavior with an elected Chief Minister of a state being sent to jail in false cases has never been witnessed. Similarly, Jharkhand Chief Minister was also sent to jail," he said.
He said, "I express my gratitude to Sanjay Singh for extending support to AAP in this fight to save democracy, the Constitution, and the identity of the country, which it has in the world. He too had to face many problems and suffer a loss as he was jailed in false cases. We are hopeful that the public will vote against people involved in such activities."
Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay Singh said, "I express my gratitude towards SP chief Akhilesh Yadav who went to Delhi and addressed the rally in our support in this time of crisis when our party Chief and elected CM of Delhi has been put behind bars."
He said that 2024 is not a normal election. "This election is to save the democracy of India, the Constitution of Baba Saheb and to protect the rights of oppressed and deprived people. It is not a normal election. It is also an election to unite the people against the autocratic government. I only want to say that the INDI alliance will win the 2024 elections," he said.
Singh said that AAP is not contesting Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh. "Every worker and elected representative of AAP will work to ensure the victory of SP candidates. It's a big fight and I will say this again any leader who is winning the election will not adopt such tactics like the Prime Minister is doing. If you are sending your political opponents to jail in false cases that means you lack the confidence," he said.
He said, "I am repeating it that there is no condition and there is no demand for a seat. We are together to save democracy, to end autocracy, and to protect the Constitution of India. We will work for SP and INDI alliance candidates in UP."
