22 kg opium seized in Jalandhar

Jalandhar, Mar 10 In a major blow to International Narcotic Networks, Jalandhar Commissionerate Police arrested nine members of the International Drug Smuggling cartel and seized 22 kg of opium.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said on Sunday that the opium agriculturist and procurement collector were arrested with 12 kg of opium from Jharkhand.
He said that apart from the backward and forward linkages, police teams have frozen 30 bank accounts with high-value transfers of Rs 9 crore in drug money.
He further said 12 properties worth Rs 6 crore were made from the proceeds of drug money.
Five foreign-based entities from the UK, USA, Australia, and Canada, along with six customs officials in Delhi, were nominated.
