Patna, March 5  Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar filed his nomination for biennial polls of Bihar legislative council on Tuesday.
Accompanied by Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Kumar Sinha and Samrat Chaudhary, Patron of Hindustani Awam Morcha ( HAM) Jitan Ram Manjhi, JDU former national president Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, his cabinet colleagues and several leaders of NDA Kumar filed his papers before the assembly secretary.
The notification for biennial elections for 11 seats of Bihar legislative council was issued on Monday. The last date for filing nomination is March 11 and scrutiny of the papers would be done on March 12. The last date for withdrawal of nomination is March 14. Voting would take place on March 21 and the counting of votes would be done the same evening.
Out of 11 seats term of which were slated to expire in May this year include 4 of JDU, 3 of the BJP, 2 of RJD and one each of Congress and HAM.
The members whose term would expire include Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Khalid Anwar, Rameshwar Mahto and Sanjay Kumar Jha who recently got elected to the Rajya Sabha ( all of JDU), former Union ministers Sanjay Paswan and Syed Shahnawaz Hussain and former state minister Mangal Pandey of BJP, former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi and Ramchandra Purve of RJD, Prem Chandra Mishra of Congress and Santosh Suman of HAM a minister in Nitish cabinet.
