Maha: Senior Congress leader blames Modi for split in Oppn parties

Former Maharashtra chief minister and senior Congress leader, Prthivraj Chavan, on Thursday held Prime Minister Narendra Modi responsible for allegedly causing a vertical split in two opposition parties in the state and described this act as the biggest 'political corruption'.

Addressing a party rally here this evening, he said, "The three-party coalition (Maha Vikas Aghadi) government formed in 2019 to prevent BJP from taking power was doing good work but the vertical split in Shiv Sena, caused by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is the biggest act of political corruption."

He further said that the MVA government fell after MLAs of then undivided Shiv Sena were 'purchased' and / or lured with promise of various political posts to them at behest of Modi.

This act tantamounted to the biggest 'political corruption', the Congress leader opined.
Earlier, there were only Congress and NCP, but later they had to decide for Shiv Sena as well, since the number of its MLAs was more than Congress party, which was pushed down to third position. as they all wanted to stop BJP from coming back to power again, he explained.

He made an appeal to get INDIA bloc candidates elected in the state in general elections for good of next generation.

On Sangli LS seat controversy, Chavan, without wading into controversy, urged the Congress party workers in Sangli to remain united and strong and work for MVA candidate's victory.
