Pune: In a remarkable move towards fostering a robust sports culture in India, MIT-ADT University inaugurated the Vishwanath Sports Meet-2024, signaling a commitment to the nation's aspirations of becoming a sports superpower. 
Pandurang Chate, the Regional Director of the Sports Authority of India (SAI), emphasized the pivotal role of government initiatives such as Khelo India, Fit India, and TAPS (Target Olympic Podium) in boosting the sports ecosystem. He revealed the ambitious goal of hosting the Olympics in 2036, aiming to propel India onto the global sports stage.

Minister Bansode, joining the event virtually, praised MIT-ADT University for its initiative, expressing optimism that the state-level competition would unearth talented players who would bring glory not just to Maharashtra but to the entire nation.
Shital Mahajan, known for her skydiving exploits, encouraged students to maintain consistency in sports, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and even nudging them toward exploring adventure sports. 
Prof. Dr. Mangesh Karad highlighted the rapid progress of the sports culture in India, stating that the Vishwanath Sports Meet aimed to enhance Maharashtra's representation in global competitions. He reiterated the commitment to providing world-class sports facilities at the university to nurture talent from both rural and urban areas.
Vishwadharmi Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad, founder of MAEER's MIT Education Group, captivated the audience with a 15-minute speech. He underscored the power of sports not only in enhancing physical health but also in promoting mental peace and global harmony.
The event commenced with a world peace prayer, symbolizing the holistic approach to sports, and concluded with the inauguration of the football tournament. Dr. Suraj Bhoyar, Chairman of the Competition Planning Committee, introduced the program, and Prof. Padmakar Phad proposed the vote of thanks.
