Aizawl, Mar 24  Palm Sunday, a day to commemorate the entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem city as a Monarch, was celebrated in Christian-dominated Mizoram cutting across church denominations by children and adults.
Those participated in the morning Palm Sunday procession were shouting the slogan – “"And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest."
One of Christ’s disciples Matthew described "Hosanna" as a cry of praise that the crowds of Jerusalem gave to Jesus during his triumphal entry into the city on Palm Sunday.
They were also singing hymns and short sermons were given in the gatherings. Palm Sunday comes every year on a Sunday before the crucifixion of Christ, the day observed as ‘Good Friday’.
Members of the Salvation Army musical bands took to the street to play hymns mixing with members of the other church denominations.
Pray and worship services were held in the local churches the whole day and night dedicating the day to Palm Sunday.
