Rainfall, thunderstorms expected over N-E India till Mar 26

New Delhi, Mar 21 India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday predicted enhanced rainfall with thunderstorms over Northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim from March 21 to 26.
“Fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorms and lightning likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim from March 21 to 26,” the IMD said in a statement.
According to IMD, “Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya during March 21-23 and March 25, over Sikkim on March 21 and 23 and isolated heavy rainfall over March 21.”
“Isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorms, lightning very likely over Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Odisha on March 21 and
significant reduction thereafter,” the IMD said.
“Isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorms and lightning very likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and Kerala on March 21 and 22,” the MeT department said.
Under the influence of western disturbances, scattered to fairly widespread light rainfall with isolated thunderstorms and lightning very likely over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and Himachal Pradesh on March 21 and 22 and Isolated to scattered light rainfall on March 23rd and 24, the IMD said.
Isolated to scattered light rainfall over Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab from March 21-24, the weather department said.
