The BSE Sensex on Tuesday gained 111.51 points at 74,782.79 in the opening session as buying was seen across the board.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 65.90 points to 22,709.30.
The NSE registered days as high and low at 22,713.20 and 22,661.80 pts, respectively.
The Sensex registered intraday highs and lows at 74,840.78 and 73,710.36 pts, respectively.
The mid cap gained 0.76 pc and the small cap gained 0.56 pc.
In 30 scrips, 22 advanced while 8 declined.
The gainers were M&M by 3.98 pc to Rs 2144.95, Maruti Suzuki by 2.20 pc to Rs 12975, Tata Motors by 1.35 pc to Rs 1014, Wipro by 0.70 pc to Rs 466.20 and Ultracemco by 0.61 pc to 10023.15.
The losers were Bharti Airtel by 0.87 pc to Rs 1321.60, Titan by 0.47 pc to Rs 3588.35, Kotak Bank by 0.18 pc to Rs 1637.25 and HDFC Bank by 0.08 pc to Rs 1527.65.
