BJP misleading public on issue of reservation: Akhilesh

Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday alleged that the Lok Sabha elections are being held deliberately in scorching heat at the behest of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the centre to harass the public.

While talking to the reporters after casting his vote at Abhinav Adarsh polling station in Saifai along with his wife and party candidate from Mainpuri seat Dimple Yadav and daughter Aditi Yadav, Akhilesh said, "BJP conducts elections in scorching heat to harass the people. These elections could have been held even a month earlier, though BJP would say that this is the work of the Election Commission of India."

He said that BJP is misleading the public in the name of reservation. "The public is in support of the INDI alliance to protect the Constitution and the BJP has forgotten the slogan of 400 crossings. BJP is going to face a huge defeat but there is a need to be careful with the party," he said.

It may be noted that four assembly constituencies of Mainpuri district and one of Etawah district fall in Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency. Highest turnout was seen in Karhal assembly constituency and least in Mainpuri assembly constituency.

Speaking on the occasion, SP candidate Dimple Yadav said that unemployment and inflation are increasing. "There is a lack of policy and intentions in BJP. Today is the election to save the democracy and constitution of the country," she said.
