Haryana: Fast track court awards 5 yr jail term under POCSO Act

Ambala, Jan 7  A fast track court in Haryana has awarded five year jail term to a man for making sexual advances to a ten year old minor girl in Ambala city.
The Fast Track Court Additional Sessions Judge Manpal Ramavat on Saturday also imposed a Rs 5,000 fine on the accused, who has been sent to the Central Jail after the court verdict.
The victim had gone to the Old Anaj Mandi where the accused started interacting with the girl and took her some distance away and started misbehaving.
The victim lodged a police complaint against the accused, who was arrested under the Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in the women police station here.
The police got the girl medically examined and recorded her statement under the rules.
The govt. pleaders argued that the accused didn’t deserve any sympathy and should be awarded punishment under the POCSO Rules.
The judge after hearing the arguments pronounced the accused guilty and awarded him 5 years imprisonment.
